its no can do from Nissan :(

As mentioned earlier, make sure Nissan knows you are serious about establishing why the failure happened, not just a strongly worded letter or phone calls.

Personally i would have parts tested by a metalurgist and gain reports from an independent specialist and also see if you can find other people who have had similar problems, a voice in numbers will always help and seems a few other members have mentioned issues earlier in the thread. Also worth mentioning forums.

On a minor level i had a few problems years ago with Yamaha, it wasnt until i threatened testing of the failing part did they actually play ball.

Good luck and dont give up there imho.

Zed well on the way to being repaired. Engine from Zmanalex, being fitted by Mark and the guys at Abbey Motorsport in the next couple of weeks. I'm off on holiday so will be a nice surprise when I get back :)

All at your own cost I guess?

From the experience I have had with Nissan so far, they are a complete waste of time.

Oh yes, no help from Nissan. Not that I didn't try. Nissan's good will policy ends after 5 years. Might have more joy before that but after forget it as far as Nissan are concerned.

May I ask what sort of ball park figure you're looking at overall, no need to split out engine and fitting save giving away too much.

Thanks to zmanalex and Mark and Scott at Abbey Motorsport for getting the car back on the road. Picked her up on Tuesday after getting off the plane from Miami.

Last time I saw the car was 1am 6 weeks ago in a puddle of engine oil so was great to see her all shiny.

New engine definately sounds smoother so maybe something was a foot with the old one when I bought it.

Moral of the story, HR engines are not indestructible! Get to know your car... check its oil regularly. If it runs to minimum you've already damaged it, to the point of oil light coming on definately too late. Being run low on oil before my time most likely cause of my woes. Run low on oil and you risk looking at a con-rod through your block and £££££ bill.
