Well after being on this forum for long enough and reading posts regarding Knockhill,

I have spotted that there are a lot of people who want to get on track, but are nervous about it as they are cautious about damage and faster cars.

As stated in many threads Tracks are a safe place to push your car than on the road,

everyone is going the same direction, No Road furniture to hit and no speeding tickets.

Yes you could end up in the gravel if you are pushing beyond your limits, but you should know your limits when your a learner (when you first time you got in a car i doubt you did 120mph sideways, thats cause you know you have a limit)

Well me and a friend are looking at running a Beginner track night at knockhill,

No date is set yet, but the possibility would be 2 hours (maybe 4 dependant on turnout) where it would only be for people who have done under 3 track days. I may be tempted to look into getting an instructor on track to go out and give pointers.

this would mean that the standard of driving on track would be very similar due to the lack of experience. I would aim to get some experienced drivers down to go out in the pax seat and give you pointers regarding braking points, turn in and the line round the corners.

So how many people would be interested? I don't have a price as yet but will post up as soon as i have one.

Adam

Oh man such a shame that its over 5 hours drive from Holyhead, I'd be REAL interested in this. What about doing it in Anglesey Circuit instead?

I'd want to try it (i was going to say my local circuit, but its 3hours away, its my home circuit) at Knockhill first but if it takes off then i'd be happy to run it at a few circuits, Such as Anglesey, croft and so on.

but lets see how this takes off first,

cheers for your input though!

Last time this was enquired about it was very very expensive. Are you able to find prices as I'm sure the track will cost the same regardless of how many drivers there are.

I'd be interested though if it happens.

I only really have a rough price so far, so its not set in stone

would probably be about £100 per car, no charge for passengers.

That would be maximum of 30 cars on track along with having 2 instructors available.

That is a 2 hour evening slot.

Price is quite good, yes some cheaper 2 hours sessions are available but they are based on 40 or 50 cars and you will have faster cars coming up behind you.

I want to make sure new drivers get a decent amount of track time, so would aim to be an open pit lane.

I don't want people to feel pushed by faster cars to drive beyond their limits and wouldn't want the track to be over crowded.

Some quick questions if you could answer them it would be great.

1. Insurance, am I covered or do I need special one?

2. Helmet, I take it I will need one could that be rented on the day. Also I have a big head  will they have different sizes.

3. Will instuctor just jump in give you some tips and pointers then move onto the next car and check up with you or will he stay for the 2hours?

4. Do I need any special footwear or boiler type suit?

Thanks

2. Helmet, I take it I will need one could that be rented on the day. Also I have a big head  will they have different sizes. If you have your own take it. If not they can be rented at knockers and various sizes are available

3. Will instuctor just jump in give you some tips and pointers then move onto the next car and check up with you or will he stay for the 2hours? I'll let Adam comment but I would imagine the instructor would be short sessions for those who want it.

4. Do I need any special footwear or boiler type suit? Nothing special, I'd advice thin soled trainers (to feel what you'r doing and make it more delicate) but sometimes long sleeves are specified.

Thanks

Thank you Stew

Would I ask my own insurance company for the track insurance or can I just go with anybody?
